Casa Tranquila was an open competition to design an elderly home for residents of Portgual. We used the experience to deep-dive into the world of elderly care (or lack thereof) to start to reimagine how our seniors are treated in tomorrow's society.  Creating loving spaces is one of the most important jobs a design has and this topic is extremely important for all generations.  From our research, we created a contemporary building that applies hundreds of subtle techniques to create an incredible space for seniors including vertical gardening to reduce back pain, a community courtyard to promote inclusivity and fight loneliness, and biophilic techniques to produce a strong natural setting for healing and caring.
