The Shadow Mounds Development concept started as an open competition but quickly turned into a research assignment aimed at creating a sustainable solution for adding affordable housing to suburban areas.  In this concept, we looked at using an abandoned mall parking lot as the build site for a new eco-development where parts of the mall could continue to be used for a community marketplace and activity center and the parking lot would be converted to carbon sequestering earth homes.
